<h3> 云竹水庫位于山西省晉中市榆社縣縣域西南部的海金山腳下，距縣城22公里，距太原市88公里。湖區(qū)地域跨云竹鎮(zhèn)和河峪鄉(xiāng)兩鄉(xiāng)（鎮(zhèn)），東面緊鄰云竹鎮(zhèn)。云竹水庫屬于海河流域的南運河水系中的濁漳河的支流——云竹河上游，1959年動工1960年建成，原名海金山水庫。水庫海拔高程1021米，水庫壩長197米、壩頂寬7米、壩頂高海拔1031米。<br></h3> <h3> 庫區(qū)總面積21700畝(1447公頃)，其中水域面積21244畝(1416公頃)，周遍地456(31．4公頃)。水庫上游控制流域面積353平方公里、校核總庫容9845萬立方米，可灌溉面積1．38萬畝、水庫防洪投資為千年一遇防洪標準，是一座以防洪為主、兼顧灌溉、水產(chǎn)養(yǎng)殖、發(fā)電(現(xiàn)已停止)為一體的中型水庫。<br></h3> <h3> 云竹湖（云簇湖）旅游度假區(qū)的環(huán)境主體——云竹湖、湖面廣闊，邊緣蜿蜒曲折，大小溝壑水面四面延伸、形態(tài)豐富多姿、獨具特色。廣闊多姿的湖面既可為游湖、泛舟水上觀光游樂提供廣闊場所，亦為垂釣、休閑、開展各種水上運動提供所需各種空間。黃土山地，土坡平緩，坐北朝南，面向湖面，四周土山環(huán)抱，地勢南北有異、各具特色。
云竹水庫不僅是榆社的旅游佳地，也是榆社主要的水產(chǎn)養(yǎng)殖地，以盛產(chǎn)銀魚聞名遐邇。<br></h3> <h3>云竹湖（云簇湖）旅游度假區(qū)規(guī)劃，系在云竹湖水面高程1020米的水域范圍及水面高程1022米的濕地地域范圍的基礎上適度擴展，根據(jù)周邊土地的性質、地形、地貌、建設條件，擬定規(guī)劃區(qū)范圍為：南起海金山豹子溝南口——向陽村，北至倉竹溝——北河村、東自豹子溝——寄子村，西到下赤峪——南峪村，東西長約6公里，南北寬約4公里。規(guī)劃范圍總用地1974公頃，其中水域面積590公頃(含濕地188公頃)、周邊地1384公頃(含5個村莊)。
