With the beginning of a new semester, here comes Xinbi Middle School's first English teaching and research activity.

Being one of the most experienced teacher in Xinbi, Mr. Zhu was assigned the first one to present a public lesson, so that a good example can be set for all of English teachers, especially those green hands.

Since the topic of this lesson is talent shows, Mr. Zhu started it with a clip of American Idol, which made the lesson exceedingly appealing to students. Apart from keeping them interested, he also paid enough attention to get explain the passage and analyze the structure of it.

And did you find something different? YES! There was an iPad in front of every student. Even Mr. Zhu was holding one, while delivering the lesson. In fact, four classes in Xinbi Middle School were equipped with iPads, and such action was conducted under the calling for Precision Teaching. This new teaching aid turns out pretty useful.
At the beginning of this lesson, students had a speaking test. You thought it would be complicated and time-consuming? Not at all. The only thing that Mr. Zhu did is a few clicks. Then students would receive the test and the system in iPad would rate their speaking automatically. The system even would send teacher a report, which vividly showed the outcome of everyone. That’s exactly what we are aiming for: precision.

After class, all of English teacher gathered together and had a discussion.
At first, Miss Jin complimented Mr. Zhu on his diversely designed activities and coherent delivery of the lesson.

Next one is Ms. Zheng. She spoke highly of Mr. Zhu as well. Since one of his activity had developed students’ thinking ability. Meanwhile she found out that several options of multiple choices are not scientific enough that requires slight changes.

At last, Ms. Zhou shared her thoughts with us. She said: “I’m attracted by the application of iPads. They are definitely effective and useful.” While she also suggested that the author’s opinion about present talent shows should be drawn first before students think about their own ones.
It is such a great honor for us to have Mr. Zhu share his lesson. This semester must be off to a good start.
