<p>Spring has arrived, and all teaching staff of Ruijie Experimental School have returned to campus as scheduled. Everything looks so vibrant. English teachers are also full of work enthusiasm. Look! Now they are having the Teaching and Research Meeting at a classroom.</p><p><br></p> <p>At first, our group leader Mrs Yu gave each of us some documents, including the teaching plan of this new term. According to the actual situation that the original school plan was delayed due to the impact of the epidemic, our teaching progress has to be adjusted to a certain extent correspondingly. In a word, the progress of English teaching this semester will be appropriately accelerated, but on the basis of not sacrificing learning effectiveness.</p> <p>As for the learning effectiveness, the quality and quantity of homework is a very important factor and a question worth thinking about. This issue is also the key theme of this teaching and research conference. Director Wang provided us valuable references and suggestions on this issue. First of all, the assignment must be selected. It is necessary to select topics that can improve the students' core qualities and to select topics that meet the students' learning competence. Sometimes, less is more. Thus students can save time to digest the knowledge as well as to reorganize their notes. </p> What's more, teachers should pay attention to leaving time for students to practice in class, whether it is oral or written. The most important thing is to cultivate students' English thinking and make students accustomed to express themselves in English, which is very helpful to improve students' competence of writing a composition. This meeting lasted about 1 hour, still, each of us has gained a lot. Although the following English teaching work is full of challenges, we are still full of confidence.
