They are the best! <div>Daddy says:</div><div><br></div>How to Teach My Babies English<br><br>Dear president and teachers:<br><br>Good afternoon. I hope you’re well. It’s my honor to share some experience of teaching English for our chiIdren. <br><br>Teaching them English was planned before they were born. Because a lot of research on the human brain shows that a baby has a special talent for learn different languages. The golden time is before the age of six or seven. The younger the better. <br><br>So I started to teach my kids English when they were 0-year-old. Of course, they couldn’t talk in the first year, but they could listen. I was surprised that the first time they understood what I meant when I said ‘What do you want?’. ‘WANT’ is the first verb they understand. That is the human nature.<br><br>I have been talking to them in English everyday. I was happy to hear their first word, ‘daddy‘! Then, more and more words were spoken from their mouth. Then, one sentence, two sentences with correct tense and possessive. Finally, a story. I realize the method that I used to teach them works.<br><br>There are some questions about teaching a baby English that I’ve been asked by many parents for a while. I’m going to share the answers as my experience.<br><br>A. Should I be very good at English?<br>Answer: No. You don’t need to have a high level English skill. In fact, my English is not as good as you thought. But fortunately, my pronunciation is decent. Correct pronunciation is the first thing. In addition, you should understand some basic rules of English grammar.<br><br>B. I don’t know how to talk in English especially when something is complex. What do I do?<br>Answer: Use simple words and sentences. You don’t need to use GRE words and complex clauses to talk to your baby. You don’t even need your baby to literally understand what you mean. The first task you should do is to let your baby FEEL what is English.<br><br>C. How to use simple words and sentences?<br>Answer: There is a book called <1368個單詞就夠了>. It will help you to know how to use simple words to express complicated things. If you don’t know how to describe a thing, try another way and go around it.<br><br>D. Are there any negative effects to the first language?<br>Answer: No. A baby brain can discern different languages. He/She won‘t mix them up. A baby can learn as many languages as he/she can if you can teach them.<br><br>E: How many languages can you speak?<br>Answer: Three. Cantonese, English and Mandarin. I make some rules for our family that every member has a role to play for teaching languages. Teaching English is my role. I should always speak English to them. My wife and parents can only speak Cantonese to them. Last but not least, they can learn Mandarin in kindergarten. Because a constant environment for learning languages can help them to improve. They will know which language they should speak in which scenario.<br><br>F. Do they watch English videos or movies?<br>Answer: Yes. English videos are helpful. Because my English is limited, I’m not a native speaker. They need to know more than what I can teach which is a work of English. But the English movies and videos can push them to the next level.<br><br>G. What movies or videos do they watch?<br>Answer: Disney movies, Peppa Pig series and animal movies. Sometimes I will play some G or PG movies. The first movie they watched is La La Land. They watched it over 10 times.<br><br>H. Do they understand the movies?<br>Answer: They don’t need to understand all. Just find a topic that they are interested in so that they can sit there still for a while to finish the movie. They will mimic the pronunciation or the dialogs of the actor or actress who is the native speaker.<br><br>I. Can they learn English by just watching videos?<br>Answer: No, I don’t think so. The one who they often talk to and play with plays the most important role. Wathing videos is for improvement.<br><br>J. Can I teach my baby English if my pronunciation is not so good.<br>Answer: Better not.
