<p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 寧州縣劇團(tuán)，1976級(jí)演員訓(xùn)練班，正式開班了。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> The Ningzhou County Opera Troupe's 1976 actor training class officially began.</b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 由于一次招了八十名學(xué)員，劇團(tuán)院子沒地方安頓，就先放在縣中學(xué)培訓(xùn)了?？h中剛好放暑假。八十個(gè)人，分了男女兩班，男五十，女三十。兩個(gè)大教室，就全部裝下了。劇團(tuán)那邊，正在加緊建房，準(zhǔn)備學(xué)校開學(xué)時(shí)把人撤回去。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Because they recruited eighty students at once, the troupe's courtyard didn't have enough space to accommodate them all, so they temporarily placed the training at the county middle school. The middle school was on summer vacation at the time. The eighty students were divided into two classes, fifty boys and thirty girls. Two large classrooms were enough to hold them all. The troupe was busy building new facilities, preparing to move the students back when the school reopened.</b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 易青娥她舅來看過外甥女兩次。床上所有的東西，包括吃飯的碗筷，都是她舅置辦的。舅沒有多余交代，就一句話：“娃，唱戲是苦差事，吃不了人下苦，就成不了人上人的?！币浊喽鸩慌鲁钥?，可她做夢都沒想到，學(xué)戲會(huì)這樣苦。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Yi Qing'e's uncle visited his niece twice. Everything on her bed, including her eating utensils, was provided by her uncle. He didn't say much, just one sentence: "Child, performing in opera is hard work. If you can't endure hardship, you won't become successful." Yi Qing'e wasn't afraid of hardship, but she never dreamed that learning opera would be so difficult.</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 每天早上五點(diǎn)，準(zhǔn)時(shí)有人吹哨子喊起床。洗臉只準(zhǔn)十五分鐘，然后就排隊(duì)、報(bào)數(shù)。報(bào)完數(shù)，由聲樂老師領(lǐng)著，到河邊去喊嗓子。學(xué)校里不能喊，因?yàn)楹枚嗬蠋煻甲≡诶锩?，一喊，就提意見。易青娥在女生里年齡最小，早上起床的節(jié)奏，她總是跟不上。因此，有好幾回洗了臉，卻沒來得及上廁所，還不敢說。最后憋著憋著，就尿到褲子里了。多少年后，還有人拿名旦憶秦娥開玩笑呢，憶秦娥也毫不避諱地說：“夏天還罷了，冬天尿褲子，那才叫活遭罪呢。”</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Every morning at five o'clock sharp, someone would blow a whistle to wake everyone up. We were only allowed fifteen minutes to wash our faces, then we had to line up and count off. After that, the vocal teacher would lead us to the riverbank to practice our singing. We couldn't shout inside the school, because many teachers lived there and would complain if we did. Yi Qing'e was the youngest among the girls, and she always struggled to keep up with the morning wake-up rhythm. Therefore, several times she washed her face but didn't have time to go to the toilet, and she didn't dare say anything. Eventually, she held it in and peed in her pants. Years later, people still joked about the famous actress Yi Qing'e, and Yi Qing'e herself didn't shy away from saying, "Summer is one thing, but wetting my pants in winter, that's real torture!"</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 喊完嗓子，就回到學(xué)校操場練功。好在易青娥先練了一個(gè)多月，腿功、腰功，都還有點(diǎn)基礎(chǔ)。在練劈叉、下腰這些特別難受的動(dòng)作時(shí)，大家都哭成一籠蜂了，她反倒還能忍著。盡管也是痛得鉆心，痛得要命的。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> After practicing her vocal exercises, she returned to the school playground to practice. Fortunately, Yi Qing'e had practiced for over a month beforehand, so she had a basic foundation in leg and waist strength. While everyone else was crying their eyes out during particularly painful movements like splits and backbends, she managed to endure it, even though it was excruciatingly painful.</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 聽舅說，這班學(xué)生里有好多干部子弟，一上功場，就大顯形了。才練了四五天，縣城就有三個(gè)學(xué)生跑回去，再找不來了。主教練罵：“逃兵。一開始就出了逃兵。希望大家不要向這些人學(xué)習(xí)。唱戲這行，先苦后甜。世上哪有一鋤頭挖個(gè)金娃娃的事?！苯叹殏冏钕矚g一人提著一根藤條，耀武揚(yáng)威地說：“痛，痛也得忍著。由痛練到不痛，功夫才上身了。我們這些當(dāng)老師的，也都是老師的老師，用棍打出來的?！彼麄兒孟裼幸环N報(bào)復(fù)心理似的，還真打呢。尤其是對(duì)那些調(diào)皮搗蛋的男生，幾個(gè)年輕教練，用棍抽得殺豬一樣地嚎叫。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> My uncle told me that many of the students in this class were children of officials, and their arrogance became apparent as soon as they stepped onto the training field. After only four or five days of practice, three students ran away to the county town and were never found again. The head coach scolded, "Deserters! There were deserters from the very beginning. I hope everyone will not follow their example. In the opera business, it's all about hardship before reward. There's no such thing as digging up a gold nugget with a hoe." The coaches loved to each carry a rattan cane, swaggering and saying, "It hurts, but you have to endure it. Only when you practice until it doesn't hurt anymore will you truly master the art. We teachers are all teachers of teachers, trained with sticks." They seemed to have a vengeful streak, and they really did hit them. Especially the naughty boys, the young coaches would whip them until they screamed like pigs being slaughtered.</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 女生是女教練。但劈雙叉、下腰這些動(dòng)作，男教練也會(huì)幫忙。易青娥年齡最小，因此每次劈雙叉，都是第一個(gè)下叉，直接面對(duì)著墻壁。第二個(gè)，屁股對(duì)著她。第三個(gè)，與第二個(gè)面對(duì)面劈。第四個(gè)又把屁股對(duì)著第三個(gè)。以此類推。當(dāng)三十個(gè)女生全部下完叉時(shí)，易青娥已經(jīng)下十幾分鐘了。并且每下一個(gè)人，力量都會(huì)朝前涌動(dòng)一下。因?yàn)槊總€(gè)人都想別人把腿撕得更開些，自己就能輕松一點(diǎn)。人人都在拱動(dòng)，拱來拱去，人人都會(huì)扎心窩地疼痛。因此，最早下叉的那個(gè)人，一定是最吃虧的。后邊的人，是后下先起。而前邊的人，是先下后起。每每到雙叉劈結(jié)束時(shí)，易青娥半天都站不起來。有時(shí)是教練拖幾米遠(yuǎn)，才把腿收攏到一起的。但易青娥能忍。就是掉眼淚，她也不想讓人看見。舅說了，學(xué)戲這行，是“莫斯科不相信眼淚”的。</u></b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> The instructors of the girls were the female. However, male instructors would also help with exercises like splits and backbends. Yi Qing'e was the youngest, so she was always the first to do the splits, facing the wall directly. The second girl would do it with her backside facing her. The third girl would do it facing the second girl. The fourth girl would do it with her backside facing the third girl, and so on. By the time all thirty girls had finished doing the splits, Yi Qing'e had been doing them for over ten minutes. And with each person doing the splits, the force would surge forward. Everyone wanted others to spread their legs wider so they could have an easier time. Everyone was arching and thrashing, and everyone was in excruciating pain. Therefore, the person who did the splits first was always the one who suffered the most. Those behind them were the ones who went down last and came up first. And those in front were the ones who went down first and came up last. Whenever the splits were finished, Yi Qing'e couldn't stand up for a long time. Sometimes the instructor had to drag her several meters away before she could bring her legs together. But Yi Qing'e could endure it. Even if she shed tears, she didn't want anyone to see. My uncle said that in the world of opera, "Moscow doesn't believe in tears."</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 每天，早上一趟功，晚上一趟功。下午是政治、語文、音樂課。最輕松的，就是下午上課了?？梢浊喽鹇牪欢陀X得還不如練功。練功不瞌睡。一上課，她眼皮就老打架。老師用教鞭都把她抽幾回了，而且還罰站。她覺得可丟人了。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Every day, she practiced martial arts once in the morning and once in the evening. Afternoons were for politics, Chinese, and music. The afternoon classes were the most relaxing. But Yi Qing'e couldn't understand them and felt it was better to practice martial arts. Practicing martial arts prevented her from falling asleep. In class, her eyelids would constantly droop. The teacher had hit her with a pointer several times and even made her stand as punishment. She felt incredibly ashamed.</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 在這里，她才知道啥叫干部子弟，啥叫城里人。干部子弟，就是晚上腰里有錢，可以出去買冰棍，有時(shí)還能買燒雞腿、燒雞翅的人?？h城人，就是隨時(shí)可以回家，從家回來了，還能帶來水果糖、汽水、包子、炸面葉的人。而易青娥沒有這些，只能吃大灶上的飯。大灶一天兩頓，一般早上是糊湯，下午也是糊湯。隔一天的下午，可以吃一頓蒸饃，或者面條。這已經(jīng)讓她感到很幸福了。在老家九巖溝，吃饃、吃面都是要過節(jié)的。</u></b></p><p class="ql-block"><br></p><p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Here, she learned what it meant to be a "cadre's child" and what it meant to be a "city dweller." A cadre's child was someone who had money in their pocket at night, enough to buy popsicles, and sometimes even roast chicken legs and wings. A county town resident was someone who could go home anytime, and when they returned, they could bring back fruit candy, soda, steamed buns, and fried noodles. Yi Qing'e didn't have any of these things; she could only eat the food cooked in the communal kitchen. The communal kitchen served two meals a day, usually a thin soup in the morning and another thin soup in the afternoon. Every other afternoon, she could have a steamed bun or noodles. This already made her feel very happy. Back in her hometown of Jiuyangou, eating steamed buns or noodles was only for festivals.</b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"><u> 在她們女生里面，有一個(gè)條件最好的，叫楚嘉禾。她爸是銀行的啥子頭兒，她媽是縣文化館的文藝輔導(dǎo)員。聽說她媽經(jīng)常搞群眾業(yè)余調(diào)演活動(dòng)，不僅自己導(dǎo)，而且還主演。關(guān)鍵是還到地區(qū)、省上拿過獎(jiǎng)，是連縣上領(lǐng)導(dǎo)都要經(jīng)常接見談話的人物。她每次來劇團(tuán)，對(duì)一般人都是待理不理的。但她每次來，黃主任即使不在跟前，也是要聞風(fēng)趕到，陪著說話的。楚嘉禾也住大通鋪，但被子、洗漱用品，甚至包括吃飯的碗，明顯都跟別人不一樣。她媽讓她回家睡，怕在這里有蚊子咬，睡不好?？沙魏陶Χ疾?。她喜歡這里幾十個(gè)人擠在一起熱鬧，好瘋，好玩。她媽就硬是給她的床上繃了一個(gè)蚊帳。她的一切，就越發(fā)顯得跟別人不一樣了。</u></b></p> <p class="ql-block"><b style="font-size:20px;"> Among the girls, there was one with the best background, named Chu Jiahe. Her father was some kind of bank manager, and her mother was an arts instructor at the county cultural center. It was said that her mother frequently organized amateur mass performances, not only directing but also starring in them. Crucially, she had won awards at the regional and provincial levels, making her someone even county leaders often met with. Whenever Chu Jiahe came to the troupe, she was usually indifferent to most people. But whenever she came, even if Director Huang wasn't present, he would rush over to talk to her. Chu Jiahe also slept in a dormitory, but her blankets, toiletries, and even her eating bowls were clearly different from the others. Her mother wanted her to go home to sleep, worried about mosquito bites and poor sleep. But Chu Jiahe refused. She loved the lively atmosphere of dozens of people huddled together, the fun and excitement. Her mother insisted on putting a mosquito net over her bed. He is a first-class screenwriter and a member of the China Writers Association. He has created dozens of theatrical works, including *The Late-Blooming Rose*, *The Great Tree Moves West*, and *The Story of Xi'an*, winning the Cao Yu Drama Literature Award and the Wenhua Screenwriting Award three times. His works have been selected three times as one of the "Top Ten Excellent Plays" in the National Stage Art Masterpiece Project. He also wrote the 32-episode TV series *The Great Tree and the Little Tree*, which won the Feitian Award. He is the author of the novels *The Story of Xi'an* and *Zhuangtai*, with *Zhuangtai* being ranked first on the "2015 Novel Ranking" by the China Novel Society and named one of the "2015 China's Best Books." In 2017, he won the inaugural Wu Cheng'en Novel Award.
